Aquatic Habitat Biologist position
AITRC is seeking a motivated Aquatic Habitat Biologist to join our team in the Ahtna Territory of southcentral Alaska. This position focuses on identifying and monitoring anadromous fish habitat concerns, including physical and thermal barriers to fish passage, while working closely with Tribal communities and partner agencies.

Bachelor’s degree in biology, ecology, environmental science, or related field (or equivalent experience)

Experience with fisheries, aquatic habitat, or restoration work preferred

Knowledge of freshwater ecology and fish biology

Ability to work independently and in remote field conditions

Strong communication and organizational skills

Comfortable operating ATVs, boats, and field equipment

Experience with water quality monitoring, fish habitat surveys, or grant/report writing is a plus
Project Operations Manager - Geosciences
This role involves managing and implementing the logistics that make the science happen safely. The Project Operations Manager will plan supplies, transport, shelter, food, and emergency protocols for a remote field team of 2-6 people. This will involve the coordination and management of teammates, contractors, suppliers, and ensure the project meets its objectives safely and with minimal environmental impact. The ideal candidate for this role combines significant backcountry skills and knowledge of the Ahtna territory with experience managing people, process, schedules, and budgets.

Proven experience in project management in remote areas. Relevant industry experience includes but is not limited to remote construction, natural resources, forestry, oil and gas, mineral exploration, fishing, guiding, and government research.

Strong organizational and leadership skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective stakeholder engagement.

Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Flexible and adaptable to changing project needs and environments.

Ability to lift up to 50lbs to chest height and carry loads over short distances.

Passion for the ethical stewardship of Ahtna lands.

Significant experience working, recreating, hunting, or fishing in remote Alaskan settings.
