Stream Habitat Restoration Biologist
Ahtna Intertribal Resource Commission (AITRC) is seeking a Stream Habitat Restoration Biologist to lead efforts in identifying, assessing, and restoring fish passage barriers across Ahtna Territory. This position works closely with Ahtna Tribes and partners to catalog and prioritize habitat restoration projects, conduct field surveys, manage temperature monitoring networks, and secure funding for implementation. The Biologist will analyze data, prepare reports for NOAA and partners, and share findings with Tribal and public audiences.
Requirements
-
A bachelor's degree in biology, ecology, environmental science, or similar, and 3 years of
experience working in stream restoration, habitat, or fisheries biology -
OR A master's degree in a pertaining field and a minimum of 1 year of experience working in stream
habitat restoration or fisheries biology -
Strong skills in data collection, report writing, and grant development

Ability to work independently and in the field, including remote and rugged conditions

Familiarity with stream monitoring tools (e.g., remote loggers, Hoboware software) preferred
Fisheries Technician
Population Assessments
Ahtna Intertribal Resource Commission (AITRC) is hiring Fisheries Technicians to assist with aquatic research projects in the Copper River Watershed. Technicians will collect biological samples, record age, sex, and length data from harvested sockeye and Chinook salmon, monitor field sites, and support data management efforts in Glennallen and Slana, Alaska.
Technicians will work outdoors in all weather conditions, interact respectfully with community members and subsistence users, meet project sampling goals, enter data into spreadsheets, and ensure proper handling and storage of samples.

Fisheries Technician
Salmon Health/Lake Assessments
Ahtna Intertribal Resource Commission (AITRC) is hiring a seasonal Fisheries Technician to collect age, sex, length data, and biological samples from sockeye and Chinook salmon harvests in the Copper River. Technicians will work between Slana and Chitina, interact with the public, and work outdoors in all weather conditions. Some projects may include lake surveys, overnight camping, and additional sample collection methods.
