A Bit About Me
Alex grew up on the lands of the Arapahoe along the Front Range of Colorado. His passion for the outdoors was passed down by his father, who taught him everything he knows about hunting and fishing. Alex earned a BSc in Environmental Geology from Metropolitan State University of Denver and an MSc in Watershed Science from Colorado State University. Over the past decade and beyond, Alex has served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in East Africa, worked as a Hydrologic Technician in Southeast Alaska and Western Wyoming, managed projects for a small salmon habitat restoration nonprofit in the Hood Canal watershed of Washington State, and led a water quality monitoring program for a private timber company in the redwood forests of Northern California. He’s spent recent years working as a Hydrologist and Fish Biologist throughout the Plumas, Sierra, and Chugach National Forests, as well as helping manage commercial fisheries throughout the Copper River Delta and Prince William Sound. As AITRC’s stream habitat restoration biologist, Alex hopes to collaborate with local stakeholders to help identify, prioritize, and implement stream restoration projects that enhance the natural resources he and his neighbors in the Copper Basin depend on.
